History

Franco

Unlike other wrecks that sank in 1915, the Franco is a more modern wreck; a Greek-flagged cargo ship that was carrying asphalt raw materials. The wreck lies on its port side, relatively close to the shore, with its top at 26 meters and its bottom at 44 meters. It is a long and massive vessel that remains intact. Due to the currents, this site is suitable for experienced divers. Marine life around the wreck is vibrant, and coral formations have begun to develop on the ship's structure. Notably, endangered red corals can be found in this region exclusively on this wreck. The historic shipwrecks in the Dardanelles not only benefit the underwater ecosystem but also serve as a major attraction for diving enthusiasts.

Diving Equipment Information

The equipment used for diving includes standard scuba gear. A 3–5 mm wetsuit is suitable between April and October, while a 7 mm neoprene wetsuit, a semi-dry suit, or a dry suit is worn between November and March.
